The Hershey RV Show, Guess What We Did!

We wanted to get an early start, the drive from our house to the Hershey RV Show was over two hours.  So at about 10 am we hit the road.  When you get up at 4:30 am every day of the work week, the chance to grab a couple extra hours of sleep was too good to pass up.  The way they cram all those RVs into the show, they'd still be there when we got there.

We finally arrived, all the RVs were there and about several thousand of our closet friends were there, too.  They took all the parking spots...

...and were standing in the admission line in front of us.

We've been to this show about 4 times in the last 5 years and this is the biggest Saturday crowd we've ever seen.

There were people climbing in and out of RVs every where.  You had to be patient to get a turn to crowd in to an RV to look around, and when you did get in, it was like the phone booth crams many of us did in our college days.

We came to one RV and went inside.  It was an Itasca Ellipse 40QD.  It was amazing.  It had a real "home like" feel to it, from the washer and dryer and rear bath, to the wonderfully soft sofa.  But the selling point for Marti was the fireplace.  She loved it, even if it was electric.  It's the thought that counts.

Even better yet was the show sale price.  So, guess what we did?

Actually, we tracked down a nearby RV salesman...

and negotiated the price for an even nicer unit, hard to believe, but we found one.

It has a built in kitchen,

and a roomy bedroom.  Pillows and blanket are optional.

We did meet Nick Russell and his lovely wife, Miss Terry, of the Gypsy Journal  travel newspaper.  We've been subscribers to their paper for years and followers of his daily blog.  We attended a seminar Nick presented on back road history, it was great.  If you know me, you know I always like to get my picture taken with people I look up to.

So, just to put all your minds at ease, we DIDN'T buy that new RV.  We figured if we bought it now, we'd have to delay our anticipated leap to full timing by at least another decade or two.  Of course, by then we'd be able to afford that 2011 Ellipse. ;c)

  2. Gin was LOL...Now you've got us wanting one like that. It'll either be the 40CD or the 42QD. Used of course so we could afford it. That new QD layout is homey but...tag axle...$$$.

Actually is fun to look, but each time we do, we never see anything we like any better than what we have. And our meager pocketbook thanks us for that. tee hee
