A New Mileage Record For Us

We're in Lincoln City, Oregon tonight with barely any Internet service and no phone service, but we are not complaining.  We have our satellite TV and a nice campsite with a Passport America rate, saving us $18 over the regular price.  We're driving down Route 101, the coastal highway and it is beautiful.

We set a new mileage record today...114 miles!  We've never traveled that few miles before, but we are working hard on getting this full time lifestyle down right, even if it still feels like we're on vacation. ;c)

Can't post any pictures of what we did today because of the weak Internet connection, but we'll make up for that on our next post.

Thanks for visiting and feel free to leave a comment.

  2. Sounds good. You also can check out casinocamper.com for some free parking. There's a good one in North Bend coming up if you're staying along the coast.

  3. Congrats, I think you are getting the hang of the full time mode. I am not sure what are record low mileage is, but I am sure it is still a lot less than you current record. Lets make it a race to the bottom:)

  4. You really did get on the road in all that rain. Good for you. Let's see at 114 miles a day ... you just may have quite a few more days before you leave the rain behind. If you go through Winchester Bay, send a report.

  5. You certainly don't want to hurry down the Oregon coast anyway...you might miss something. There is a new vista around every corner, each one prettier than the last. Hope you take your time and enjoy the amazing sights along the way. Travel safe.

  11. thats the beauty of 'retirement' you can travel as many or as few miles as you want to per day...there is not time clock to punch upon arrival..enjoy and be safe out there...

  12. An experienced fulltimer told me to strive for "2-2-2":
    <200 miles/day
off the road by 2:00 PM
    2 night minimum
We are still trying to get there.

We also learned it takes about a year to get out of "vacation" mindset, and really become "fulltimers".

  13. Hmm...I did 220 miles yesterday, but then I'm staying for three months! :)

  14. We try to stay with the 2-2-1 ratio with a 2-2-2 thrown in every once in awhile.

When we did the 101, we hardly did any mileage in a day due to the beauty and wanting to take in every breath. We also stayed at many of the casinos along the drive.

You guys are doing great, we look forward to meeting up with you and many others when we are in Quartzsite in just a few weeks.

    Safe travels!

  15. We just did 385 miles and it made me think of you. I still felt like I was moving when I sat down to eat supper. I don't know you managed to do over 500 miles. Congratulations on 114.

  16. We stayed in a C of E campground for 2 weeks and then moved slightly over 1 mile and stayed an additional 2 weeks.
Remember, it's the journey not the destination.

  17. What are you using for internet? We use campgrounds and also tether my cell phone to the computer to use my unlimited data service ($30 a month) and we have yet to find a place that we cannot connect.
