It was a drop dead gorgeous, million dollar day, and we were not going to waste it. We loaded up our Sea Eagle 370 and went “Yaching” on Lake Murray, just a little ways outside of Columbia, SC.
It is so nice to be able to get out post Labor Day. This is how busy the beautiful lake is:
Lake Murray was created with the construction of a dam. We paddled along the dam, looking at the intakes for the electrical generating turbines.
There are many boats that sail on the lake. We were glad to see that they were all tied up.
Some are already done for the season.
We rowed along the shoreline,
We saw a few small lake front cottages there.
Later, we paddled across the lake to a swimming beach.
It was kind of crowded there, too.
Marti brought some snacks that we enjoyed.
I stretched out on a picnic table bench and had a nice little snooze. The weather was just so nice, it was hard to pass up a nap.
Back we rowed to our launching area, ending a perfect day on the water. All tolled, we went over four miles. Nice little work out.
So how are we going to be famous boaters? It is because of this guy:
He is a photographer from the newspaper, The State.
He was sent out to take pictures of people having fun on the water. He didn’t have many people to choose from so he photographed us. We’re going to be in tomorrow’s paper. We’re famous!
Thanks for visiting and feel free to leave a comment.
