Despite the early hour, 7am pick up – yikes!- and the long line waiting for the breakfast – it was great fun having breakfast in the converted gym, now a temporary cafeteria. No matter the food was biscuits with butter and/or jelly and Danish…the moment was priceless.
After breakfast, we escorted them, er, Owen (who knew it wasn’t cool to escort your 9 year old grandson (Andrew) to his room?) to his classroom and with a kiss we said goodbye.
This afternoon, I gave the boys their last piano lesson for a few weeks while we travel to MO to visit the grandtreasures of the girlie kind! We haven’t seen Taylor, Kierra and Rebekah since May…and we are looking forward to hugs and kisses and anything else for a week or more…Yahoo!
We will be pulling out of Woodsmoke CG. I think our buddies, the hummingbirds, are going to miss us. They have become pretty aggressive with one another, gearing up for their trip south? They have gotten visibly bigger since they first started coming around. It was fun getting to see them up close.
So, all I can say is: THIS is what retirement is all about! We are blessed beyond what we deserve!
(Sorry if the pictures are all cock-eyed… I am a novice at this!)
Paul, it would be impossible to mess-up pictures of your beautiful granddaughters.
ReplyDeleteYou're right that being able to travel and spend time with our grandchildren is a real blessing and a big bonus of retirement.
Safe travels to MO - it will still be there whether to drive sanely or insanely - pick sanely!!
I sure do keep hoping that someday I'll have a grandbaby to visit. In the meantime I love spending time with you and yours. Have a great trip to MO and be safe.
ReplyDeleteSo glad that you have been having such a great time with the grandchildren. I bet the girls will be excited to see you, they look adorable. I can't wait until we get to see our grandson Cameron and his new baby sister, just over a month away now!
ReplyDeleteSafe travels!

Your photos make me homesick for my own grandkids... and great-grandkids. What sweet little ones you have. Isn't it great being able to travel to see them?
ReplyDeleteYou are right .. that is what it's all about. You have the best of both worlds. Who would have ever thought that I would have a chosen life without real roots but I love it. It is the best for me right now. The rewards are tremendous. Have a great trip and give those little ones big hugs.
ReplyDeleteSo happy that you get to see your grand-girls. I imagine they are waiting on pins and needles. We will be back in Indy to see our grands in just about 6 weeks and I can't wait. You are so right, we are truly blessed.
ReplyDeleteSweet post Marti! Your grandkids just get cuter by the day. Oh, and it was nice of you to step back and let Andrew walk by himself to his classroom -- too funny!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear you will be rolling to see the grandtreasures. We're assuming that means the VA appointment took place and your done with that for awhile!! Enjoy the children now... it funny how they seem to become "cool" younger and younger;o))
ReplyDeleteGreat job of showing off your treasures Marti. But I think you both more than deserve it and so do those lucky children. Enjoy! Enjoy! It's what life is all about.
ReplyDeleteIt is such an amazing lifestyle enjoy all the time with the family that you can.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely seeing the grands is the highlight of full-timing! They are all such cutie pies :)
ReplyDeleteSome people would never consider this lifestyle because they don't want to leave their grandkids. For those of us with grandkids scattered, it's a perfect choice! Have a safe and happy trip.
ReplyDeletesweet pics of the grands..no way could you mess that up..so glad to see your having a blast with them all!!!!
ReplyDeleteFun stuff- those are precious days indeed :)
ReplyDeleteGreat bragging pictures! It is crazy what kind of food they feed in school now.
ReplyDeleteI so agree with you about the grand treasures. Life's Sweetest Reward! I bet you enjoyed every moment of your special grandparents breakfast. What a neat idea.
ReplyDeleteNothing could be more special than being there for your grandsons on Grandparents' Day. We are not so lucky to be near our five grandkids. Sure wish they didn't choose to live in my least favorite place of the United States: Los Angelos.
ReplyDeleteYou are blessed beyond measure.
What a cool idea to invite the grandparents to visit. Although I love how the sign told you to get out by 8am. Made me laugh.
