Where's my pen?

If you're like me, you have a favorite pen, one that fits your hand so well, the ink flows so smoothly, its shape easily slides in and out of your pocket. You like it so so much that when someone borrows it, you watch it like a hawk and snatch it out of their hand a little too quickly the second they're done using it. 

Every once and a while, you misplace your beloved pen and have a mild panic attack, turning over papers and rifling through drawers until you have it back in your pocket.  Sort of a Papermate (or Bic) Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).

I've always been a big fan of blue ink, until I joined the military and you weren't allowed to use blue ink because it didn't copy well on a photocopiers, so you had to use black ink.  For years I used black ink, never too fond of it but following the rules none-the-less.

Until copiers were invented that copied so well that you now had to sign signatures in blue in so an original signature could be told from a copy.  So I gladly went back to blue ink pens and hoarded my favorite brand.

I had a special little nook on my RV dashboard where I could keep a small stash of my favorite pens, until our grandkids started traveling with with us.  When we'd be stopped at a campground for the night I began noticing a strange thing...my stash of favorite pens started disappearing.  Occasionally I'd find a pen and thank my lucky stars, but there had to be a better way.  Something easy, yet good enough to hide my pens so I didn't spend more time searching for one than it took to unhook and get on the road.

I came across this product.  It was obviously designed by a fellow pen hoarder.

It fits beautifully under the table, out of sight and out of mind.

It doesn't interfere with your legs when seated at the table.

It has little dividers to separate your pens by colors, and places to hold sticky notes and scissors.

The drawer installs easily with supplied screws and all you need is a drill and a screwdriver.  I installed the first one and I finished the project with all my fingers still on and no blood stains on the carpet.

 I'm pretty pleased with the product and the result, now I can find my pens when I need them and the grandkids are no wiser. :c)
