Basic Housekeeping

After our marathon trip across the USA in seven days (not a personal record, I did it back in 2008 in 5 1/2 days when I unexpectedly got called back to work), the Journey was somewhat disheveled.

When we pulled into our son's slightly down sloping driveway on Wednesday, I used the front levelers to get us on an even plane.  Being too tired to fiddle too much with leveling, I just left it "close" and spent the first night feeling like I was going to roll off the bed.

The next day, I was determined to get the Journey properly leveled, but before doing that, I wanted to fill the propane tank and the diesel fuel tank.  Doing a check around Astoria, the best place to get propane was the KOA, so off we went, Ryan, Taylor, Kierra and me.  While the worker filled the tank, Ryan and the girls went into the KOA store and got some ice cream.

Then off to the gas station that carried diesel and filled that tank.

Back at the house, I used my "Lego" blocks to level out the Journey correctly.  I had to stack some under the levelers to lift it up beyond level, then more blocks under the front wheels, then let the full weight of the Journey back down on the blocks with the levelers used to be stabilizers.  It took a few tries to get everything just right.

Today I spent a couple of hours giving the Journey and the Element a good scrubbing.  I hate having a dirty vehicle and I swear when they are clean they run much better.

Even the "shoes" were dirty.

Now that's more like it.

Finally, got it all done.  I had almost forgotten how good the Journey looks when it's clean.

In the mean time Marti has been having a great time with the girls, helping them do projects, bake cookies and color things.

Marti went with the girls to their school Christmas party, then after school, worked on some Christmas ornaments with them.  She's having a great time with the girls but she seems to be a little out of practice.

Fortunately, she'll have almost three more weeks here to get the hang of it.  ;c)

  1. What a great job you did at leveling! It's amazing how tuckered we can get now but a few minutes of shut-eye sure feels good.

    Love Marti's hat. I assume it's a Santa original.

  2. It seems that we all have the experience but those little ones seem to have the endless supply of energy.

    It's about time.

  15. Between you and the guy in the Tour next to me, I am feeling like a slob. I have never coated my tires. And only wash the mud off occasionally.
