We planned a two day car trip up to New Jersey and then next week a short jaunt over to Pennsylvania to see all our granddaughters. But then we got the news that little Anabelle was down with pink eye and could not go to daycare (both her parents, Corey and Amanda work full time). It caused a quandary for them to arrange for taking time off from work.
We decided to kick the PDD (driving extreme distances in one day)into high gear and get there as fast as possible. We hopped in the car a left a 6 am, we even saw the sun rise (Sherry would be proud) and got to NJ from South Carolina in under twelve hours. A mere 704 miles.
Sometimes you do what you have to do, and the reward was worth it.
We’ll be here watching our little sweetie before heading over to PA early next week to see the rest of our granddaughters. A special occasion is occurring next week, granddaughter Rebekah turns one. We’re looking forward to that special day, too.
We’re thankful for our fulltime, retired RV life that gives us the flexibility to go where we need to be. We sure are glad we made that choice. :c)
Thanks for visiting and feel free to leave a comment.
There is only one legitimate excuse for PDD...and that is grandchildren! :)
ReplyDeleteHave fun!
Hope you give that pink eye the stink eye!
ReplyDeleteFor that beautiful reason, your insanity is acceptable.
ReplyDeleteI knew you'd kick in PDD before you left the Carolinas :) Little Anabelle is getting big! Have fun taking care of her, and don't rub yer eyes! :)
ReplyDeleteI am proud Paul. Is this your first sunset since you were on early duty? :-)) But 704 miles in 12 hours is that a PDD record?? Hope little Anabelle isn't feeling badly with her pink eye. Those day care things do spread stuff around. You are mighty fine grandparents to fly up there in a moments notice. I'll be the little darling was tickled "pink" to see you both.
ReplyDeleteNope, not a record. The all time record is 758 miles in one day...in a motorhome, too!
DeletePoor little thing. I hope her pink eye goes away quickly. And you and Marti be careful or you'll be seeing pink too.
ReplyDeleteYou are forgiven this time....Looks like PDD can have it's good points too.
ReplyDeleteWow, that is a long day. Enjoy spending time with Annabelle.
ReplyDeleteGood job- great to have the flexibility to help out when needed.
ReplyDeleteYour sitting builds up all that energy and when you get behind the wheel it is unleashed like a coiled spring. You should be okay for a few weeks now.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness for fulltiming. It makes those precious little ones just around the corner ... even if it's a long corner!
ReplyDeleteYou are very good grandparents to come to the rescue like that. Sure hope Annabelle's eye problem clears up fast - she's a cutie.
ReplyDeleteAre you sure you don't have wings on that car ;-))) You had good reason, though, so you're excused.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your time with that little cutie pie!
