I'm Not Wanted Anymore

I received the email today I've been waiting for.  The last hurdle.  The final office in Headquarters approved my retirement request for 1 September 2011.  I'll officially be a civilian again, for the first time in over 30 years (30 years, six months and 14 days, but who is counting?).

Now the fun begins, physicals, paperwork, dental checkups, paperwork, equipment inventory, paperwork, finishing up final details, paperwork and oh, did I say paperwork?  I think a couple of forests are going to be in danger.

I'm actually going to leave with my dignity and reputation intact, I never did anything that would have gotten me fired...that they found out about!  ;c)

Now, just in case, I'm going to line up a couple of job prospects (!!!) to tide us over until the house sells.  I particularly like this guy's idea of making a little extra cash.

Maybe I could loan my talents out to the Department of Homeland Security and defuse bombs?

Maybe that's not such a good idea...I am a little rusty.  Is it the blue wire or the red wire you have to cut?  I can never remember which is which.

Naw, I think we'll just keep our fingers crossed and hope the house sells quickly so we can get on the road full time and see this great country of ours.

Thanks for visiting and feel free to leave a comment.

  6. Love the illness the poor homeless man has. Please don't catch it from him. I'm hoping to actually be able to see you at the rally.

I retired Sept 10 last year. It's a good time to say good-bye.

  8. You do not have to hunt for a job, just have some cards made up as consultant. If is amazing how many people will pay for your opinion.
