New Direction, New Update

I've been silent these last few years since we had to stop our fulltime travels.  In 2016 we had to build a home in South Carolina due to family issues, first I had to care for my elderly father for two years until he passed and since then we've been caring for Marti's elderly 84-year-old spinster sister who suffers from dementia.  It stopped us cold from any RV travel in the Journey.,

I maintained the Journey even though we couldn't use it, monthly drives to keep all systems operable, but it was getting long in the tooth and seemed sad to continue to hold on to it as maintenance items were becoming more frequent.  Maintaining a diesel engined RV is very expensive.

So, we researched smaller, gas engined Class C RV's and decided to turn in the Journey for a 2026 Entegra Odessey.  We purchased the 30Z model which is equipped with a twin seat reclining love seat facing a large TV mid living room.  I had installed an in motion Direct TV system so we could take SIL with us for short trips so she could watch her favorite programs, and we could get out and travel instead of being locked home.

So far, the jury is still out on if the trips will work out with SIL, time will tell.  The other option is to pay big bucks to have a care giver stay with her so we can head out on the road.  Tough decisions and other good options are limited.

On the other hand, I'm very pleased with the Entegra, so far it has been the most trouble-free new RV I've owned (of four).  Jayco, the manufacturer, has pretty good quality reputation and back it with a 2-year warranty.  It's been fun to tinker with and both Marti and I have been adding some items to personalize it to our tastes.

I'm looking forward to some good trips once we can get all the stars to line up for us, in the meantime, just having it is good for mental health as I'm researching destinations we can hopefully travel to one day.  Short trips are on the horizon.  Fingers crossed.

I'll update posts whenever we're able to travel so stay tuned.
