Planning for the Weekend

I tried, I really did, to get home from work and my insane commute and pick up the Journey from the storage lot.  Problem is it got dark too quickly.  Curses to Daylight Savings Time!  I cannot access the storage lot after sundown and it came too fast tonight.

I'll make a fast morning run and bring the Journey to the house in preparation to getting away this (possibly last) weekend.  I need to do a fast oil change on the generator, it's due.  Hopefully the weather is warm enough to get it done.  I have a quick medical checkup later in the day and then it'll be the waiting game on when will Marti get home from work.  She had a late night last night and Fridays tend to be a late day for her.  Here's to hoping it won't be.  Then we'll be off to somewhere, yes we like to live on the edge. ;c)

On another issue, I have important news that will break next week, so stay tuned.

Will Your RV Burn to the Ground?

Not a nice thought, but it happens on rare occasion.  That will certainly ruin your day.

I received an interesting letter in the mail, from the Norcold Refrigerator Company.  It stated:

Norcold, Inc has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 1200, 1201, 1210 and 1211 model gas/electric refrigerators with serial numbers from 315525 to 13088811, non consecutive, should be recalled.  The refrigerator's serial number is located inside the fresh food compartment.  These refrigerators may have cooling units with a cooling unit serial number between 700000 to 1308579.  This is a new recall to include all 1200, 1201, 1210 and 1211 models.

Even if your refrigerator was repaired as part of a previous recall, it is necessary to have it repaired again to minimize the risk of injury or death due to fire.

The installation of the High Temperature Sensor will be at no cost to you.

As I researched this recall, it basically pertained to all the four door refrigerators, which we have in the Journey.  Norcold says to discontinue using the refrigerator and contact an RV service center to get it repaired.

Hair of the Dog

It's not what you think.  It's another gift that we get from Zoe, the Wonder Dog.  Hair, or fur, whatever you call it.  And she leaves it all over the Journey.  It tends to drive me...crazy.

On Sunday morning, we woke up at the Candy Hill Campground.  Right in the campground, in their community center is held a nice church service.  All campers are invited and we went, having a good time singing hymns and enjoying a good sermon.  Nice perk included with our campsite.  Another perk is this trolley the campground uses to take campers around to some of the tourist sites in the area.

Before we departed, we decided to attack the hair coating again.  Zoe is not allowed on the "Fur"niture, but that doesn't mean that her hair won't drift all over.

We attack it with two different vacuum cleaners, an upright Eureka,

It has a collapsible handle, making it easy to store.

It does a great job, but of course, you can't get it into all the nooks and crannies around the Journey so we have this Black and Decker handheld.  The Mickey Mouse sticker was put on there by one of the grandkids. :c)

While we were at it, it was time to change the batteries in the smoke detector,

 and just as importantly,  the Carbon Monoxide (CO) detector.

Because we often boondock and run the generator for long intervals, I bought a second CO detector and have it placed in a different location in the Journey's bedroom.  I like redundancy.

We pulled out around noon, did a quick visit to the nearby Camping World and then headed to the Flying J to top off the Journey's fuel tank and propane tank.  I like to top them off as often as I can, not only to avoid condensation in the tanks, but the peace of mind it gives me in case we have some bad weather and need an escape pod (or another chance to sneak away for a weekend). ;c)
