Are There Hot Tubs In Heaven?

There surely must be hot tubs in the other place...maybe a little too hot?

We spent our first night at the Lazydays campground in Tucson, staying up a little too late (we're becoming serious night owls) and sleeping in a little to late to fly with the eagles in the morning.

But hey, we're retired, so we can do these things if we want to, right?

The campground is very nice, the amenities are super, from a large laundromat, to a fitness room (to make you feel guilty), even an on site restaurant and free WiFi (figures now that we have a Verizon MiFi). The sites are immaculate, the roads are paved and smooth, the shrubbery is perfectly cut.

Not only is Camping World here, but a huge RV repair facility and RV showroom/lot.  If you don't like the RVs for sale at the Lazydays dealership, you can go across or down the street to several other dealerships carrying other brands. Kind of like an RV Mall.

They do offer club discounts too, we got $5 per night off with our Good Sam membership.  The nightly price is reasonably on par with many upscale campgrounds out West or run of the mill campgrounds in the East.

Marti is fascinated with the cactus and other desert plants that grow out here in Arizona.  She bought a guide book to help her identify what they are.  She and Brenda Brown were using it the other day when we drove along the Apache Trail.

Now she has fallen in love with the greenery and has me stop the car so she can run and take pictures of the plants to post on her Facebook account to show to all her friends back East.

Tomorrow we're pulling out of this campground and heading over to the Famcamp at Davis-Monthan AFB.  We're going to stay through Monday night, then hit the road heading into New Mexico.

We ran around today and did a couple of errands, including picking up a big box of mail from the post office and visiting the Sprint store.  No, I did not have to grab the salesman's tie to get help (he wasn't wearing one anyway).  The salesman was very helpful and even told me the answer to the security question Sprint had on my account:  "What was the name of your elementary school".  Answer on file: "Elementary School".  Believe it or not, I was speechless...  :cO

Back at the campground, the hot tub felt heavenly.  We soaked and soaked some more.  Now if they could just put one in an RV, that would be a floorplan I'd be very interested in. ;c)

We have some plans of things we're going to do over the next few days beside watch the Super Bowl (We have to watch this one, Marti's from Massachusetts and I'm from New Jersey.  No matter who wins, one of us isn't going to be very talkative to the other).

A preview of one thing we're going to do:

Here's a little hint:

Any guesses?

Short Jaunt To Tucson

It was hard to leave, but we had to pull out of John and Brenda's Dogpound South, but not before we located and circled their Dogpound North Ranch in Canada.  Yep, we didn't scare them off, they actually want us to come and visit them up there in the wild and frigid North (but in the summer). ;c)

We topped off at the Flying J in Eloy, AZ, both the diesel and propane tanks.  With our stay in the desert of Quartzsite, we ran the generator quite a bit and used propane for heat (it did get a little cool at night).  I was pleasantly surprised that we didn't need as much or either item as I thought we would.  Happiness is fewer gallons of diesel needed.

Originally, we planned on heading to the Famcamp at Davis-Monthan AFB in Tucson, but...Semper Gumby (Always Flexible).  We changed our plans when a phone call to them revealed the only site they had was in their dry camping area, we'd have to wait for someone in the hook up sites to leave.

We couldn't resist the call of full hook ups so we decided to splurge a little and booked two night at the Lazydays Campground instead.  Yes, it is more per night than we budgeted, but they have a hot tub (actually two) and you know how much I like hot tubes.  These bones were made for soaking... :c)

It is a huge campground and RV dealership.  They even have one of these stores here.

What's not to love?

So we're all comfy and relaxed here.  Tomorrow we have a couple of errands to run (watch out Mr. Sprint salesman, don't tell me I don't know where I went to elementary school!).

We crunched our budget numbers for January and we're only $400 over.  We used a bit more propane than we anticipated (funny how it gets cold at night coming down the coast from the Northwest and into the desert) and we overdid it by eating out a lot. How can you turn down going with your Escapees group of friends to a fine dining establishment like Quartzsite's Grubstake?  In retrospect, we should have passed on that meal.

We did spend some extra money on the food category, too, but much of it was to stock up the Journey's pantry and freezer.  We're getting the hang of this full time life, and we've got plenty of time to perfect it.  :c)

Riding The Apache Trail

It is embarrassing.  John and Brenda Brown at their Dogpound South Ranch have welcomed us with open arms and are happy to have us moochdocking on their property.

We should have been paying big bucks for this opportunity to visit with them and the tour of some of the amazing sights along the Apache Trail that they've taken us on.

Our first stop was the campground located here, just outside of Phoenix, Arizona.

Not only is there a beautiful campground, the surrounding area is packed with stunning scenery.  A short hike placed Usery Mountain Regional Park on our "Must Visit" list...for an extended stay.

We headed out along the Apache Trail and were treated to amazing vistas, rugged mountains and incredible views of Mother Nature's handiwork.

Down the road was a little store with genuine Old West items, made in China.  One interesting thing they had on display on the wall was a collection of rifles that won the West.

They also had a collection of hats that the white man wore to celebrate winning the West.

Now the Indians are winning back the West from the white man, in their casinos, one nickel at a time. ;c)
