Some Fort Wilderness Fun

We arrived at Fort Wilderness on Sunday.  A quick check in at the Outpost without having to leave the Journey,

and then we went on to the special area set aside for disconnecting toads.  I enjoyed my special helper, Owie.  He loves to do things and keep busy.  He also is a good supervisor to his grandpa.

We set up in our site and plugged in to the 50 amp circuit using my surge protector.  Owie learned how to check to make sure the plug is wired correctly and how to plug in the electrical cord.

Then we hopped in the Element and headed down to pick up our rented golf cart.  Marti waited in the car parking area while Owie and I took care of the paperwork.  After all that was done, we got the keys to the cart.  Owie had to call Mimi (Marti) on the cell phone to tell her we got the golf cart and we would meet her back at the campsite.

As a reward for all Owie's hard work keeping his grandparents in line, we went to the pool.

There are actually three pools, a large on with a special slide,

a small, shallow pool for little tykes,

and a small pool with a little water slide for the little kids.

Unfortunately, some bigger kids dominated the slide until the Life Guards chased them off.

Owie really enjoyed the water slide.

It was nice to have Owie all to ourselves for a couple of days until his Mom, Dad and brother Andrew arrived on Tuesday night.

Thanks for visiting and feel free to leave a comment.

Major League Bummer - We're Home

We drove the 865 miles to our home from Disney World, spread over two days.  The Journey seemed awfully silent without the boys in it.  The Journey ran like a top and gave me a steady 7.5 mpg towing the Element.  I ran right at 65 mph, faster than I usually drive but we had lots of miles to cover in a short time.

Marti and I were talking about next year's Disney trip, we'll do it sometime in February.  However, if everything works out, we won't have a home to come back to, we'll be living in it.  So after next year's Disney trip, we both thought at the same time that we'll head further South, to Key West.

We visited Key West back on New Year's Eve in 2005, we stayed on the Navy Base campground.  We only had two days and promised ourselves we'd come back and stay longer.  So that's the plan.

I have a bunch of pictures to go through from our trip, so stay tuned for the next couple of posts.  I'm having trouble with the new camera I bought, when I copy my pictures to the computer via Picasa, they are sized too big and take forever to upload to the blog.  I'd appreciate any ideas on how to resize the pictures so they load faster.

Fun At Disney World

We're almost finished with our time at Disney World.  Tomorrow we hit Typhoon Lagoon and then in the afternoon, we have to start home.  It's been a great time with Andrew and Owen (and their parents), with many memories and pictures we'll share when we get a better Internet connection, my Sprint air card is very slow here for some reason.

Along with the fun, we've have some precious conversations with Owie, who has a unique view of life and an interesting vocabulary for a 3 1/2 year old.

We were walking in the Magic Kingdom and I was carrying Owie.  He leaned over my shoulder, put his mouth to my ear and whispered, "Pa (that's what he calls me), did you know you have hair growing out of your ears?".

Owie and I were driving around Fort Wilderness in our golf cart.  Coming to a "T" intersection we had this conversation:

Pa:  "Which way should we go?"
Owie:  "Go left" he says as he points to the road on the right.
Pa:  "But that's right".
Owie: "Just pretend that it's left!"

We're driving back to the campground after our day at the Magic Kingdom.  It's after 9 PM and it's dark out.  Often times you can see armadillos walking around the roads at night.  Here's our conversation:

Pa:  "I bet we'll see some armadillos".
Owie:  "We better keep our eyes ripped".  (I think he meant pealed).

Special moments with time well spent with our grandsons.  Memories we'll treasure.

PS:  Andrew says I scream like a girl on roller coasters and Mimi (Marti)  clucks (laughs) like a chicken!  :c)
