Head Spin

What started off this morning as a nice car trip up to Pennsylvania and New Jersey to visit our granddaughters Taylor, Kierra and Rebekah (PA) and Anabelle (NJ) took a totally unexpected turn about 400 miles into our 700 mile trip.

Our daughter Heather in South Carolina called to the say long awaited letter from the Veteran's Administration (VA) for my disability exam is scheduled for this Saturday for the first part with a second part a week from this coming Friday.

We've been sitting in our South Carolina "home" since December awaiting this exam and as soon as we slip out of town for a week's visit with the kids...Bam!

I'm now booked for a flight "home" on Friday, with a rental car waiting at the airport.  Marti will continue on with the visits and drive "home" middle of next week, to arrive on Thursday.

I just love it when a plan comes together!

I'm not complaining, this needs to get done and will be worth it in the long run.  It just figures! :cO

Maybe this will get us rolling sooner?

  1. Oh Paul I'm so sorry. It always seems to happen that way. Wait and wait and wait then leave town and bam. Well at least you'll get it over with. And heck you haven't been on an airplane in a while anyway have you???? Is Marti driving back alone or is this a round trip for you? Good luck at the doctor.

    2. VA was watching and waiting for you to leave town. It's their way of messing with you.

  5. Think about it on the bright side, you're finally going to get it done. Two, you weren't going to have it done on the next day so you didn't have to turn around and forego the trip all together and three, you are still able to see the grandchildren even if it's only going to be for a few days. Things could be worse!

  10. I agree with Elaine. If you had planned this before, these appointments would now be history. Thank goodness your daughter-in-law is getting your mail or you may never have known. Oh well ... Pennsylvania will still be there so once this is behind you, you can head that way again. Enjoy those grandkids!!

  13. This is like getting an appointment to see the doctor only to have all your disappear when you get to the doctor. Should have planned a trip earlier to get your appointment sooner!

    Howdy Marti & Paul,
Leave it to the VA to screw up something!!! When did they start seeing patients on Saturday?? In Texas they close on Friday @ 3:30pm PROMPTLY; you can tell by ALL of the empty HANDICAPPED spaces!!!
It's so nice to have to catch a plane for a BLOOD & PEE TEST & WAIT a WEEK to see the a doctor!!! For me that's 500 miles round trip, so, I don't go anymore... I'm waiting on Obamacare(YEAH RIGHT!!) I'm 77 so I'm not going to get any!!!
Hope you don't get so upset you have a stroke!!!
