Sting Like A Butterfly, Punch Like A Flea

It’s hard to find decent programs on TV, too much blood and guts and other stuff are common fare.  Most of the time we watch the DYI Channel and laugh at homeowners trying to keep up or upgrade their homes, it’s especially funny to us because we don’t own a house anymore and have been through all those antics.  Nope, don’t miss it at all.

But we’ve found a great TV show that we watch religiously,  Duck Dynasty on A&E.  It’s a show about some real rednecks in Louisiana that invented a duck call and became multi millionaires.  Sort of a square peg in a round hole situation where their redneck ways don’t quite fit into modern society.  It’s a ton of laughs and it’s clean, well sort of, they do hunt in swamps.

Today I got to meet one of the stars of the show, Willie Robertson.  To memorialize the moment, he graciously agreed to let me have my picture taken with him.  We look so much alike, we could almost be twins.  Almost.

Willie was so nice, he would have done anything for me.  And not complain one bit.  After all, he was kind of quiet.  Maybe it was because he was a cardboard cutout?  At least he stood still long enough that I could get a clear picture.

One last tidbit, the post title “Sting like a butterfly, punch like a flea” is one of the many famous lines that one of Duck Dynasty’s main characters, Uncle Si, spouts out.  He’s not quite all there.  Maybe he and I are more like twins…

The real highlight of the day was meeting our special RV friends, Mike and Terri.  They have taken a workamping job at a nearby COE campground until mid July, so we’ll get to see lots of them.  That’s a treat for us because the campground we’re in is mostly all construction workers who are never around.  During the day and on weekends, it seems like a ghost town, or maybe a ghost campground.  It was great to talk RV and catch up with real live people.

A great day all around and tonight, Duck Dynasty is on.  That makes me “Happy, happy, happy!”  Life is good!  :c)

Thanks for visiting and feel free to leave a comment.

  2. Great picture of Mike and Terri. Hope they'll post about their workamping adventures. Duck Dynesty huh? My one TV show is The Biggest Loser. Well aside from Downton Abbey. How's that for a pair of shows?? I actually think you are much more handsome than Willie.

  3. Ha, at first I thought that really was Willie standing beside you!

We don't own a TV, but we do download Amazing Race and Survivor to watch on the 17" laptop. And we watch quite a few movies on the laptop as well.

  6. Nothing but antenna tv at our house so no Duck Dynasty. I know what you mean about nice to talk to people. When we're parked in Montana we're not in a park and it's just in a regular neighborhood where most folks are gone and nobody visits - you remember what those days are like.

  8. I can't believe how much you and Willie resemble one another. I think you could be a stand in for him on the show.

  9. I keep hearing about Duck Dynasty - maybe I should try and watch it sometime. Can't imagine what would be interesting about rednecks and duck calls but seems like a lot of folks like it....and the resemblance is remarkable!!

  11. I know what you mean about TV. We watch a lot of home shows with the selling, buying and remodeling. We also watch the kitchen shows and, of course, American Idol is back on!!

  12. We love the Duckmen, very rarely do I see anything on TV that can get me laughing out loud but those guys do it. Probably because Louisiana isn't the only place with those kind of guys, we have a few around Dogpound too.

  13. Love Amazing Race...our favorite show on TV. We have watched a few episodes of Duck Dynasty and get our laughs from it.

  14. Well I guess I see the resemblance between you and Willie. Sure hope it has nothing to do with him being made of cardboard? That would be rude.
Actually, way WAY back in my last year of high school, had I thrown on a "dew rag" and aviator sunglasses (I had a pair) I could have easily passed for Willie. Although my beard was a bit shorter at only four inches.
It's (thankfully) just a dim memory.

  15. I'm sorry to see you've sunk to the level of getting your picture taken with a 'cardboard cutout'. It doesn't help that old Willie looks a bit more lifelike than you do either!!

  16. We just saw that same cutout at Walmart! I don't watch the show, so I didn't know who that dude was. Thanks... now I learned something today!

  18. Never heard of Duck Dynasty - we'll have to check it out. Old Willie looked a little stiff. Maybe the money has affected him.
