Marti's Musings: say what?

Paul has pretty much crashed for the night.  It was a long, and n-o-i-s-y day.  Whistling Dixie is one thing, but by the time we got here.....  let's just say my ears are still ringing.

We decided to go all 359 miles to the campground by our daughter's house.  One less day to deal with that endless whistle....  Interesting though, if I held my head in some weird position, the whistle was actually blocked - either that, or I am now half deaf.

The campground "Wood Smoke" is not only close to our daughter's, it is actually much better than I remembered.  Free Wi-Fi (with great speed), thus we can thumb our nose to Verizon, who insists that we have used 10g the last month; wooded, but still with access for DirecTV; laundry, fishing pond - alas, no hot tub, though.  WalMart is a couple miles away, and there are large military bases close enough for commissary shopping, but too far for the campground for ease in visiting.

We had a  delish dinner at Cracker Barrel (love those gift cards!) - and our daughter and the grandkids met us there, on their way home from a birthday party.  We were able to squeeze in a couple hour's visit, before we headed back to the RV for the night.  Tomorrow there are predicted heavy rains and storms, so not sure what the plan will be.

I understand the Pensacola, where we just left yesterday, is under tornado warning tonight. yikes!  Talk about timing!  I hope and pray our friends in that area are safe and sound......

The weather has been bizarre lately, so we hope everyone battens down the hatches, and stays safe. Thanks for stopping by, feel free to leave a comment.      ~Marti

  1. Glad to hear you're staying one step ahead of those tornadoes! Sure do worry about friends on the road when we see so many of those warnings around the country right now. You guys take care. Hope you get that whistle thing figured out and fixed!

  2. Weather is nasty everywhere right now. It was good to get out before the tornado came through.

Sounds like it's been a tough hard drive day. Hopefully you'll get that noise fixed soon and not have to deal with it again.

Love that Cracker Barrel and especially their catfish!

  4. Too bad no hot tub. It would have been a nice relief after all that whistling. We know you'll be happy when that gets fixed!

  6. I don't know how you did that drive with the whistling as a constant companion; at least you're at a nice campground now and family is nearby.

  8. We had a month of tremendous usage on our Verizon card too. It turns out that if you watch any Y-tube or anything that is streamed from the internet - gobbles up the air time...How did we find out about this? We had a $1000 + bill one month! Needless to say, no streaming or U-Tube or internet videos any more.

  9. We had the trouble getting used to our Verizon limit the first year on the road when we had 3G. Seemed like I couldn't post any blogs without going over. So I started using Live Writer so I wasn't doing everything on line and we upped to 5G and we don't have any trouble any more. But we don't stream anything that's true. Verizon does have an online app that you can check the status of your useage so I keep an eye on both the phone and the wireless.

Can't imagine 350 miles of WHISTLE. Headaches for either of you? I hope not. Also hope they can tell you how to turn the darn thing off if it ever happens again.

  10. Glad you got to the destination and can stop banging your ear to stop the noise :)

We've been tethering our phones with PDA-net at night, and using the MiFi just in the morning (before work) to cut our MiFi usage in half. First month we used it, we went over, now we get almost to the 5gb before it rolls over.
