So How Do You Like The New Blogger Dashboard?

The only thing that never changes is everything changes.  I grudgingly have to be forced into some changes, others I'll accept immediately.  Why is it that the most common changes in life happen to be with computers?

It seems that with computers, there can't be anything left alone, always something has to be tinkered with to make a "Better Product".  Remember Vista, now there was the poster child for a "Better Product"...NOT!  Microsoft couldn't get Windows 7 on the street fast enough.

Now Blogger has a new dashboard design, and it will shortly become mandatory.  They've taken a nice, easy to use system and re-engineered it into something much harder to use.  I've spent some time this evening looking it over and I'm not impressed.  I've got no choice in the matter, but it comes down to you get what you pay for.

Just curious, for you Blogger users, what do you think of the new dashboard?

Not much going on today, we were lucky enough to babysit Anabelle today while her mommy went and got her hair done.  We sure enjoyed the couple of hours of just the three of us.

Yes, Anabelle, mommy is going to trust you to Mimi and Pa...for a little while at least.

Maybe tomorrow if the weather stays nice, there are some projects to do around the Journey, starting with the roof scrubbing and working down from there.  Thankfully, the FamCamp manager has given me permission to wash our motorhome.  That's something pretty rare at campgrounds anymore.

Thanks for visiting and feel free to leave a comment.

  3. Our blog switched over without our doing so a while back. It was a nightmare until I found a way to switch back to the old dashboard. Now by the end of the month we'll all be having nightmares.

Like you said you get what you pay for but if we were all paying for it and being forced to use an inferior product Blogger would soon have no customers.

    It's about time.

  4. Ohhh, how I dread the manditory change! I don't think I can cope with one more situation.

That grand is so stinkin cute!

  5. I've been using the new dashboard for so long I've forgotten what the old one even looks like. Anabelle is so cute - love the pink ears.

  6. I tried it when it first came out, didn't like it so I switched back to the ole standard. Like you I believe they made it more complicated (difficult) to work with.

  7. I am getting used to the dashboard..but what I hate in their changes was the emails they send to you when a comment comes in. There used to be links in the email to let you select PUBLISH... and it would. Now it don't. You have to go to another window of the dashboard and from there check a box to let a comment be published. ARGGHHH on my Galaxy Tablet or I suspect also on Iphones, it makes you open a browser window to approve a comment, difficult when you are in email mode.

  8. I haven't drunk the new blogger dashboard kool-aid yet, but I suppose I'll have to eventually. Have the same reluctance with Facebook. Don't want that "timeline", and I'm putting that one off until the bitter end as well.

  9. It took a little getting use to for me but I am slowly figuring it out and I like it. And what a cutie grandbaby you have. Love those little ears

  10. I have been using the new one for quite a while. When I heard it was coming, figured I might as well get used to it. Like Jim and Sandie, I can't even remember what the old format looks like. I use LiveWriter to actually write my blog, so I don't spend too much time on the dashboard anyway.

  11. I've gotten used to the new dashboard; I hope they work out the bugs soon though. (Like the word verification showing turned on when it isn't.) I moderate comments on posts over 14 days and used to get messages that had links that allowed me to delete, post, etc. The messages I got this morning had just one link ... moderate. I don't like that, but I guess I'll get used to that, too.

  12. I haven't even found it yet! Everything on my computer is now in Spanish... (Spanish server)... and even though I have it translated to English, I still can't find my way around. I lost my blog the other night... took forever to figure out how to get to the draft... but then, I'm not very computer literate anyway....

  13. I guess I am using the old one??? I'll know if it changes in a couple weeks!!! Anyway, thanks for the warning;o))

  14. It takes some getting used to but I haven't experienced any real issues with it as yet. Been using it for over a month. Pictures seem to load faster, just haven't figure out how to load more than one at a time. Seem to be able to adjust pictures and text on the page easier.

  15. First they changed the Gmail interface, I don't use that so ignored it. Then it was Google calendar...we use that extensively to keep both phones and both laptops in synch. I sent feedback multiple times...the lighter, pastel colors are much harder to read for my old eyes. And they changed the event colors from bold to pastel (I suggested they let us choose which we wanted). Nope, stuck with it.

I've flipped in and out of the new Blogger dashboard several times. I've tried to use it but sometimes have to go back to the old to find something I need. You're right, it takes multiple clicks to do something that used to take one. And again, what is up with the light colors...it's so hard for me to read. grrrrrrr

  16. I haven't had too many problems with it. Been using it for months now. I am with you on some things..if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

  17. Haven't had the guts to change yet, maybe I better get started??

  18. I tried the new dashboard but had a hard time finding what I needed. I switched back but will have to deal with it again soon, I guess. I post my blog via Windows Live Writer (and it stays the same, thank goodness) so I rarely use the dashboard except to change my blog.

  19. I switched over many months ago and really don't have a problem with it. Like others, I don't remember what the old one looked like anymore. As with anything, it just takes awhile to get used to change...especially as we get older...LOL!!!

  20. As soon as the new version was offered, I switched. I'm trying to beat down the old adage that "you can't teach an old dog new tricks!" :)

  21. I have done the last two posts in the new system. So far, I do not care much for it. As you noted, they took a simple easy to use design and made it more difficult with bells and whistles I do not need.

Since I have no choice but to live with it or vote with my feet (I guess mouse, in this case), I will give it more time.

  22. Reminds me of what we used to say where I worked, "change is good, no change is great! - you change first!!"

I waited until almost the bitter end and then I changed, don't like but am slooowly getting used to it.

  23. SIGH......grumble grumble grumble!!
Thanks for the reminder of such good news Paul.

To the blogger folks who have no ears:
If it ain't broke, why fix it? And if you provide no way for users to contact you how do you know we need anything new and updated?

Thank goodness I use live writer. guess I'll never change anything in blogger again. Is there any easy way to move a blogger blog to wordpress???

  24. Kevin is looking at getting our own website up and running but that isn't an easy feat either. They sure don't make it easy but once he figures it out then it will only be us that will change it, we won't be forced to change just because someone else thinks it's a better product.

Enjoy your time with Anabelle, she's sure a cutie!

  25. I don't care for the new blogger at all and will most likely switch to a new blog platform such as WordPress. I've already started setting up a new page on Wordpress to see how it performs etc etc.

  26. I agree and so I retired my blogger blog - I have a wordpress blog so I just use that one. Sad, too, because I used to love blogger!
